Från och med förra veckan har vi fått läsa fruktansvärda nyheter från Ukraina. ÅAS fördömer starkt Rysslands attack mot Ukraina.
ÅAS samarbetar med Åbo Akademi och Finlands Studentkårers Förbund (FSF) om situationen och funderar tillsammans på stödformer till studerande som berörs av frågan. Vi utreder även möjligheterna att så snabbt som möjligt utarbeta ett Student at risk-stipendiesystem för att möjliggöra fortsatta studier till de studerande som flyr krig och förföljelser.
Mitt i en kris som berör oss alla är det ändå viktigt att komma ihåg att konflikten inte rättfärdigar russofobi eller spridning av det. ÅAS godkänner ingen slags rasism inom universitetssamfundet och särskilt nu under krisen är det viktigt att vi förstärker vår gemenskap istället för att tillåta hat.
Det är normalt att det nuvarande världsläget orsakar oro och ångest. Ingen behöver ändå bli ensam med dessa känslor. ÅAS har sammanställt ett blogginlägg med länkar till olika stödtjänster.
Since last week we have read shocking news from Ukraine. The Student Union of ÅAU strongly condemns Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
The Student Union discusses with Åbo Akademi University and National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) about the situation and is considering possible forms of support for students affected by the crisis. We are looking into the possibility within our university to start a Student at risk-scholarship program, to enable further studies for the students fleeing war and persecution.
In the midst of a crisis that affects us all, we must remember that the conflict does not justify Russophobia. The Student Union of ÅAU does not accept any kind of racism in the university community and especially now in the midst of the crisis we should focus on strengthening our community instead of allowing hatred.
