Studentkåren föreslår att rektor Moira von Wright fattar beslut om att hyra in alpackor till Humanisticums gård.
De charmiga djuren skulle pigga upp vyn vid Biskopsgatan men främst vara ett stöd i vardagen för studenterna och personalen. Att umgås med djur är bra återhämtning från stress och man kommer ut hemifrån varje dag då man vill besöka alpackorna.
ÅAS socialpolitiskt ansvariga i styrelsen Axel Wilson är beredd att jobba hårt för att detta ska bli verklighet, bland annat förhandla med Biskopsgatan r.f. om åtgärder för att täcka in lukten av dynga. “Jag kan personligen sköta alpackorna på veckosluten, nu behövs åtgärder för studerandes välmående” säger Wilson. Alpackaprojektet ska naturligtvis förverkligas på ett säkert sätt, bokning i Peppi säkerställer att man inte är för många på plats på en gång.
För att garantera regional jämlikhet ska även Vasa campus få alpackor för glädje och luddterapi. På någon gräsplan nära Academill kunde en inhägnad placeras. ÅAS serviceexpert i Vasa Amanda Ehn ser möjligheter även på Havtornen: “två minialpackor kunde vistas på gården under kansliets öppettider, jag är villig att betjäna utomhus och vakta alpackor medan jag delar ut dekaler till studiekort, det fixar sig”.

The charming animals would brighten up the street Biskopsgatan but mostly act as a support for students and staff in their everyday lives. Spending time with animals relieves stress and meeting the alpacas is a good incentive to getting out of your apartment every day.
Axel Wilson, who is responsible for social affairs on the Student Union Board, is prepared to work hard to make this happen, he will amongst other things discuss with the local residents’ association ways to conceal the smell of dung. “I could personally tend to the alpacas during weekends. Now is the time for acts to enhance student wellbeing” says Wilson. The alpaca project will of course be realized in a safe way, booking in the Peppi system will ensure that only a few people show up at the same time.
To guarantee regional equality the campus in Vasa should also have alpacas for joy and fluff therapy. An enclosure could perhaps be built on a lawn near Academill. The Student Union’s Service Expert in Vasa Amanda Ehn thinks it might be possible to have the alpacas close to the Havtornen building. “A couple of mini alpacas could be kept outside Havtornen during our opening hours. I can work outside and see to the alpacas as I give out stickers to the student cards, we’ll make it work”.
