ÅAS årsfest i Åbo flyttas till september

Med tanke på den oroliga och osäkra framtiden som koronasituationen medför, har ÅAS styrelse, årsfestmarskalk och årsfestkommitté (ÅFK) tagit det tunga beslutet att flytta årsfesten som var planerad att äga rum den 20 februari 2021, till fredagen den 24 september 2021. Vi vill kunna garantera att alla deltagare kan fira med oss på ett tryggt sätt, att alla kan ha kul och ha möjligheten att anmäla sig utan oro över det rådande läget. Som det ser ut just nu kan inget av detta garanteras om årsfesten går av stapeln i februari.

Detta betyder inte att den traditionsenliga årsfestveckan (v.7) kommer att vara evenemangsfri, tvärtom. ÅFK planerar en fullspäckad vecka, med allt från det traditionsenliga fantåget till Per Brahe-statyn i Åbo till en tävling som sätter deltagarnas snabbhet, orienteringsförmåga och geniknölar på prov. Mera information om allt detta och mera kommer i ett senare skede.

Om beskedet om flytt av årsfesten känns tråkigt, kan ni trösta er med att vi i år inte firar enbart en årsfestvecka, utan två!

The Student Union Annual Ball in Åbo has been postponed to September

Due to the unsure situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, The Student Union Board, the annual ball coordinator and the annual ball committee have decided to postpone the annual ball originally planned for the 20 February 2021 to Friday 24 September 2021.

We want to make sure that we can guarantee a safe and joyous occasion for all participants, and that we do so while following current recommendations. It is something that we cannot guarantee at this time for the traditional date, hence the postponement of the annual ball.

This does not mean that the traditional annual ball week (week 7) will be eventless, quite the contrary! The committee is planning a week full of events, the traditional flag procession to the Statue of Per Brahe will be held in Åbo, as well as a competition in which the participants speed, orientation ability and wits are put to the test! More information about this is to follow later.

This news might feel sad but fear not! This year we will celebrate two weeks instead of one!
